About Find the ADHD Girls

Meet Cynthia Hammer, MSW

Cynthia Hammer Author Of Living With Inattentive ADHD, Climbing the Circular Staircase of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

I don't want any ADHD girls to feel as different or alone as I did

As a young girl, I always felt different, but I could never understand why. My parents were so concerned I was “unusual” they send me for a hospital evalution. It was the 1950’s and the understanding of ADHD was practically non-existent.

Fast-forward to age 49, when I was finally diagnosed with ADHD. The doctor told me I was going to have a totally new life—and I did. Now, age 80—I’m on a mission. Over 70 years later, little has changed. ADHD in girls is still missed way too often. I started FINDtheADHDgirls to make sure girls with ADHD get noticed, screened, and helped.

So I wrote a book about my life with ADHD, before and after my diagnosis

In 2023 I wrote a book about my life called “Living with Inattentive ADHD: Climbing the Circular Staircase of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It’s an award-winning, best-selling book on Amazon.  Several noted ADHD clinicians praise it for its honesty and specificity about the challenged faced by someone with ADHD, particularly when they are undiagnosed.

An audio recording of my book is available to you for free. It is my hope that it will increase awareness of inattentive ADHD and help more people with ADHD receive a correct and timely diagnosis. I hope you’ll give the book a listen, it may help you understand a loved one a little better, or recognize struggles you never noticed before.
